Jashore: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested seven people while they were allegedly engaged in online betting in the Dalmil Adarshapara area under Kotwali Model Police Station in Jashore. A team of RAB-6, Jashore Camp, conducted a raid in Dalmil Adarshapara Choramara Dighi Southpara around 4:50 pm on Monday following a tip-off and arrested them, according to a press release issued today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals were identified as Faisal, 22, son of Salam Sardar; Shahin Alam, 24, son of late Abdur Rahim Gazi; Milon, 25, son of Yusuf Ali; Shariful Aslam, 23, son of Hossain Gazi; Nazmul Hossain, 22, son of Abedar Rahman; Bappi Hossain, 21, son of Billal Gazi; and Ariful Islam, 20, son of Nazrul Islam. All of them are residents of different areas in Satkhira district.
The RAB press release stated that the arrestees were allegedly involved in online gambling using a laptop and nine Android mobile phones through illegal betting websites. RAB also seized 860 scratch cards of different colours from their possession.
The arrestees were later handed over to Kotwali Police Station in Jashore after a case was filed against them for taking legal action, the RAB press release added.
