Senior litterateur and former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand has received civic felicitations at Dhangadhi of Kailali district on Thursday.
During a formal programme organized by the Civic Felicitations Main Organizing Committee, Chand was felicitated for his outstanding contributions to the Nepali literary field.
Committee Coordinator Maya Prakash Bhatta honoured the former PM by handing over a letter of appreciation.
On the occasion, two dozen of literary associations including Sudurpaschimanchal Literary Society and Sudurpaschim Academy honoured Chand.
According to Bhatta, the civic felicitations programme was organized on the occasion of 84th birth anniversary of Chand.
Popularly known as Shreelochan among Nepali literary fraternity, Chand had won Madan Puraskar in 2054 BS for his anthology of stories ‘Bisarjan’.
Born at Sunarya Rural Municipality of Baitadi district, Chand has published his 14 literary works including ‘Hiyuko Tanna’, ‘Ratri Bhoj’, ‘Aparajita’ and others.
