Naogaon: The government has initiated the distribution of free seeds and chemical fertilizers to small and marginal farmers in Sapahar upazila, as part of the agricultural incentive program for the Kharip-1 season of the 2025-26 fiscal year. The initiative aims to bolster agricultural production and support the livelihoods of farmers in the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the distribution program took place on Wednesday morning at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom. The event was graced by the presence of local Member of Parliament Mostafizur Rahman, who attended as the chief guest. The program was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Romana Riaz, with agriculture officer Shapla Khatun delivering the welcome address.
The event saw the participation of several key officials including Assistant Commissioner (Land) Faridul Islam, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Arifazzaman, Additional Agriculture Officer Muniruzzaman Talki, Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman, and Social Service Officer Delwar Hossain. Several local political leaders and officials were also present to witness the distribution process.
Agriculture Officer Shapla Khatun revealed that a total of 2,200 farmers across the upazila are beneficiaries of this program. Each farmer cultivating transplanted Aman paddy was provided with 5 kg of seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertilizer, and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer. Additionally, farmers received essential inputs necessary for the cultivation of sesame and mung beans, ensuring a comprehensive support package for diversified farming activities.
