Dhaka: The home ministry today transferred 17 police officers holding the rank of supernumerary additional deputy inspectors general (Addl-DIGs) to new assignments. "The transfer order will take immediate effect," stated a circular issued by the home affairs ministry, signed by Deputy Secretary Tousif Ahmed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the reshuffle saw supernumerary Addl-DIG of Industrial Police Mohammad Anwar Hossain reassigned to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) as Addl-DIG. Similarly, Kamrul Hasan Mahmood, previously with the Special Branch (SB), has been posted to the SB as Addl-DIG.
Furthermore, supernumerary Addl-DIG Tofael Ahmed has been posted to the Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) as an additional commissioner (Addl-DIG). In a similar move, Sifuan Ahmed and Muhammad Basir Uddin have been reassigned to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) respectively, both as joint commissioners (Addl-DIGs).
The transfers also include Hussain Mohammad Kabir Bhuiyan to the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) as additional commissioner (Addl-DIG), Mahabubul Karim to the Police Headquarters (PHQ) as Addl-DIG, and Al Mamun to the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) as additional commissioner (Addl-DIG).
Other notable transfers involve Md Asaduzzaman to PHQ as Addl-DIG, Mohammad Anisur Rahman to SB as Addl-DIG, and Dr AKM Akteruzzaman Basunia to the Police Staff College (PSC) as Addl-DIG. Meanwhile, Md Jahangir Alam and Mohammad Hayatun Nabi have been reassigned to PHQ and CID respectively, both as Addl-DIGs.
The reshuffle also includes Md Abdullah Al Mamun, now with the PBI as Addl-DIG, Afroza Pervin returning to PSC as Addl-DIG, and Md Tofayel Ahmed Miah continuing with Railway Police as Addl-DIG.
