Seeds, Fertilizers Distributed to 5,000 Farmers in Naogaon

Naogaon: Free Ufshi Aush variety paddy seeds and fertilizers were distributed among 5,000 small and marginal farmers in the district under the Kharip-1 seasonal agricultural incentive program today. The distribution ceremony was held at the Sadar Upazila Parishad hall around 11:30 am, organized by the Upazila Agriculture Department.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sadar constituency Parliament Member Zahidul Islam Dhalu inaugurated the program as the chief guest. Speaking at the event, he highlighted Naogaon’s contribution to the country’s food production, noting that the district has consistently led in paddy and rice output. He emphasized that nearly 70 percent of Bangladesh’s population depends on agriculture, and the government is prioritizing the sector through farmer-friendly policies and incentive programs.



He further mentioned that agriculture is closely linked to the country’s development and economic progress, describing farmers as the main driving force of the national economy. He added that initiatives such as agricultural cards are being introduced to bring all farmers under government support programs. Under the initiative, each farmer received 5 kilograms of Aush paddy seeds, 10 kilograms of DAP fertilizer, and 10 kilograms of MOP fertilizer free of cost.



The meeting was presided over by Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Monirul Islam. Among others present were District BNP Organizing Secretary Khairul Alam Golden, former Joint Convener Aminul Islam Belal, former Member Secretary Bayezid Hossain Palash, and Baktarpur Union Parishad Chairman Sarowar Kamal Chanchal.
