Ex-Army Officer Sent to Jail Following Remand in Tanu Murder Case

Dhaka: A court here today sent retired army officer Hafizur Rahman to jail in the Sohagi Jahan Tanu murder case. Hafizur Rahman was produced before the court after his three-day remand, with Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Cumilla Abdullah Al Amin passing the order following the prosecution’s hearing.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, sources from the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) detailed that Hafizur Rahman was presented to the court of the CJM after undergoing interrogation during his remand. The Investigation Officer (IO) of the case mentioned that the information gathered during the remand would undergo verification before proceeding with further legal actions.



A PBI team apprehended Hafizur Rahman, a retired senior warrant officer, from the Keraniganj area in Dhaka district. His arrest marks the first in the case after nearly a decade, rekindling focus on the Tanu murder that occurred in 2016.
