Dhaka: Security measures in the city and around the National Eidgah have been increased in anticipation of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow. "Five-tier security arrangements have been taken at the National Eidgah ground and its surrounding areas," stated DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali after inspecting the security setup at the National Eidgah today. He assured the public that there is no security risk associated with this year's Eid.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, like other countries in the region, Bangladesh will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with festive and religious spirit tomorrow. The main Eid congregation is scheduled to be held at the National Eidgah at 8:30 am, allowing approximately 35,000 devotees to offer their prayers simultaneously. The DMP commissioner emphasized that strict security arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of city dwellers.
A detailed security plan has been devised by the DMP for all Eid congregations, including those at the National Eidgah, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, and various other locations throughout Dhaka. This year, the city will host a total of 1,739 Eid congregations, with 111 taking place in different Eidgahs and 1,577 in mosques within the Dhaka metropolis.
The National Eidgah ground is monitored by CCTV cameras, and DMP Bomb Squad and SWAT units will maintain vigilance. A designated parking area has been arranged for devotees attending the National Eidgah ground, and there will be diversions at several key points to manage traffic. The DMP has urged everyone to adhere to the traffic instructions.
DMP Additional Police Commissioner and Chief of Detective Branch (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner (CTTC) Md. Masud Karim, and other senior officials were present to oversee the arrangements.
