Thakurgaon: A two-day science and technology fair was inaugurated today in the district with the theme "We will win in knowledge and science, we will be the best in the world." National Science and Technology Museum Director (Joint Secretary) Dr. Md. Moniruzzaman inaugurated the fair at the multipurpose hall of Thakurgaon Government Boys' High School, organized by the district administration this morning. Deputy Commissioner Ishrat Farzana presided over the function.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event saw participation from several notable figures. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Jasmine Nahar, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khairul Islam, Thakurgaon Government College Principal Professor Shamim Hossain, and District Primary Education Officer Mofazzal Hossain were among those who spoke at the event.
The speakers highlighted the transformative power of science and technology, emphasizing how the availability of information has evolved over time. The fair features a total of 30 stalls, showcasing science-based displays prepared by students from various institutions in the district, including the upazila.
The invited guests took the opportunity to visit these stalls. The fair also includes a range of events over the two days, such as debate competitions, science Olympiads, science-based quiz competitions, and a prize distribution ceremony.
