Schoolboy Dies of Smoke Inhalation During Raozan Fire

Raozan: A school boy died of smoke inhalation in a fire that broke out in a neighboring building at Gani Haji house of east Dabua village under Raozan upazila of the district early today. The victim was identified as Mohammad Faisal, son of expatriate Rahmat Ullah and a student of class VI at Raozan Salamat Ullah High School.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fire originated from a kitchen stove in the house of Md. Musa, engulfing five rooms of the house. Faisal, who was sleeping in a two-storied brick made building next door, suffocated due to the heat and smoke of the fire. He was rescued by breaking the wall and taken to the hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead.



Victim’s uncle Habib Ullah and grandmother Shahanur Begum were burned while trying to rescue Faisal. Raozan Fire Service in-charge Shamshul Alam said that upon receiving information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Another school boy, also sleeping in the two-storied brick building next door, was reported to have suffocated due to the heat and smoke of the fire. However, his identity could not be known immediately.
