Mymensingh: A schoolteacher was tragically killed after falling from a battery-run auto-rickshaw and subsequently being run over by another auto-rickshaw in the Dapunia area of Mymensingh Sadar on Tuesday morning. The deceased, identified as Souji Sakhinara, 48, was an assistant teacher at Dapunia D.K. Government Primary School.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Shibirul Islam, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station, reported that Sakhinara had left her home in Mymensingh town in the morning and boarded a battery-run auto-rickshaw to reach her school. The incident occurred around 10am when Sakhinara fell from the vehicle while it was traveling along the Mymensingh-Fulbaria road in Dapunia.

At that unfortunate moment, another auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction ran over her, leaving her critically injured. Local residents quickly came to her aid and rushed her to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, but unfortunately, doctors there declared her dead.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police retrieved the body and handed it over to her family. The police also seized the auto-rickshaw involved in the accident, and further legal proceedings are currently underway, according to the OC.
