Dhaka: Sayeed Shipon of Jago News emerged as the back-to-back champion in the men's singles carrom event of the Walton-Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Sports Festival, which concluded at the DRU Sports Room on Wednesday. Shipon secured his victory by defeating Monirul Islam Borhan of Daily Naya Diganta with a straight 2-0 set in the final. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jasim Uddin of Dhaka Post secured the third position in this keenly contested event. In addition, Sadia Islam Parul of The Daily Samakal and Mazharul Islam Mithun of Independent TV were recognized as the Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year, respectively, both scoring seven points. The final event was attended by notable figures including DRU president Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo, vice president Shafiqul Islam Shamim, organizing secretary Khaled Saifullah, finance secretary Jakir Hossain, and sports secretary Mahbubur Rahman. Additional directors from Walton Hightech Industries, Imran Ali Bari and Sazzad Hossain, were also present to witne ss the culmination of the festival.
