Satkhira: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today arrested a woman from a bordering village near Bhomra Land Port and seized six gold bars from her possession. Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ashraful Haque, Commanding Officer (CO) of the 33rd Battalion of the BGB, told journalists that they nabbed the woman and recovered six pieces of gold bar from the Alipur area near Bhomra Land Port at about 6 am today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested woman was identified as Nasrin Nahar, wife of Imam Hossain of Bhomra Tower Road intersection area under Sadar Upazila of the district. The BGB CO stated that acting on a tip-off, they carried out a drive in the Alipur area and detained the woman. They also recovered six pieces of gold bar, Taka 1300, and a mobile set from her possession. The weight of the seized bars is 517.85 grams, while the market value of the gold bars is estimated to be around Taka 76,88,537, the CO added.
The detained woman has been handed over to Satkhira Sadar Thana after lodging a case against her, and the seized gold bars were deposited into the government treasury.
