Sirajganj: Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Adviser to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Science and Technology, has urged citizens to vote ‘Yes’ in the upcoming referendum to facilitate ongoing reforms. He made the call during the launch of the ‘Voter Gari Super Caravan’ in Sirajganj, a programme designed to promote the referendum and encourage voter participation. Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed inaugurated the caravan as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Salehuddin emphasized the importance of the referendum for sustaining the reform process. “We have not come to power, but to serve. While not all desired reforms have been fully implemented, significant progress has been made,” he stated. He urged citizens to cast their vote in favor of ‘Yes’ on February 12, the national election date, highlighting that a ‘Yes’ vote would bring development, ensure good governance, restore citizens’ rights, and curb fascist activities.
The event, organised by the Sirajganj district administration, was presided over by Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Dr A.N.M. Bazlur Rashid. It saw the participation of key government officials including Cabinet Secretary Dr Sheikh Abdur Rashid, Finance Secretary Dr. Md Khairuzzaman Mozumder, Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Md. Anwar Hossain, and Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Md Saiful Islam as special guests.
Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam, Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam Santu, Principal of Sirajganj Government College Prof Mahidul Hasan, District Election Officer Aminur Rahman, along with senior officials, teachers, staff, and students from government and non-government institutions, were also present. The event attracted a large crowd even an hour before it began.
