Barishal: Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr. M Sakhawat Hussain today inaugurated the Laxmipur launch terminal under Muladi upazila in the district, an official handout said. The launch terminal is expected to alleviate the challenges faced by commuters traveling from Barishal, Bhola, Patuakhali, and Dhaka, making their journeys more convenient and affordable, Sakhawat noted during the inauguration ceremony.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the terminal is also anticipated to contribute significantly to the growth of trade and commerce, particularly in the agriculture, fisheries, and livestock sectors. Sakhawat emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering balanced development across all regions by leveraging the potential of Bangladesh’s waterways.
The inauguration was attended by Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Chairman Rear Admiral Arif Ahmed Mustafa, along with officials from the Ministry of Shipping and BIWTA.
