Dhaka: Speakers at a workshop today laid emphasis on coordinated efforts of all for ensuring safe food as it becomes a very crucial issue to avert food adulteration practices.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the workshop highlighted the importance of public awareness alongside government initiatives to combat food adulteration. The event, titled “Youth Festival-2025 Towards Building a Bangladesh,” was held in the conference hall of the District Council. It was organized by the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority and its Capacity Building Project, with support from the District Administration.
A.N.M. Nazim Uddin, a Member (Joint Secretary) of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, attended the workshop as the chief guest, while Deputy Commissioner Md. Ohidul Islam presided over the session. The workshop was attended by officials and representatives from various government and non-government organizations, local government bodies, business leaders, teachers, journalists, and youth representatives.
Nazim Uddin emphasized the necessity of both government and non-government initiatives to ensure safe food for all, noting that the government alone cannot achieve this goal. He called for a massive campaign to raise awareness about the harmful impacts of adulterated food, which can lead to diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and other non-communicable diseases.
During the event, Superintendent of Police of Magura Mina Mahmuda remarked that food adulteration has become an alarming issue in the country, stressing the need for collective action to stop such practices and safeguard public health.
