Dhaka: Russian Ambassador in Dhaka Alexander G. Khozin met with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the party chief’s Gulshan office here this morning and discussed various issues of bilateral cooperation. BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid were also present during the meeting.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, different issues, including strengthening bilateral ties and expansion of trade and commerce, were discussed during the hour-long meeting. Amir Khasru informed reporters that Russia has shown considerable interest in investing in Bangladesh, particularly in trade sectors.
Amir Khasru further mentioned that the Russian delegation expressed curiosity about Bangladesh’s upcoming national elections, seeking information on the potential timelines for the elections. He emphasized the longstanding relationship between Bangladesh and Russia, highlighting Russia’s status as an energy-rich nation and discussing potential areas of cooperation in the energy sector.
The meeting also touched upon cultural exchanges, with Amir Khasru noting Russia’s rich cultural heritage. Discussions were held on the possibilities of fostering cultural exchanges between the two nations, aiming to enhance mutual understanding and collaboration.
