FSCD Celebrates International Firefighters’ Day 2025

Dhaka: The Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) today celebrated the International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD) 2025 in a befitting manner aimed at honouring the firefighters for their service globally.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a discussion was held at the FSCD Headquarters on Kazi Alauddin Road, Fulbaria, to mark the occasion. Forty-five officers and firefighters of various ranks, selected from all over the country for their excellence and bravery in firefighting and rescue work, were awarded at the function.



A minute of silence was observed in memory of all the firefighters worldwide who died while performing their duty. Speaking on the occasion, Director General of the FSCD Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal highlighted the organization’s role as a trusted, service-oriented entity and its readiness to respond to any disaster or calamity.



The awards were presented by the DG, consisting of a certificate, a crest of honor, and cash, recognizing the outstanding contributions of 45 officers and employees. FSCD Director (Operations and Maintenance) Lt. Col. Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury delivered the welcome address.



During the event, the Principal of the Fire Service Training Complex, Md. Ohidul Islam, also gave a speech, while FSCD’s Thakurgaon district Inspector, Md. Mozammel Haque, expressed his feelings on behalf of the awardees. Other notable attendees included Director (Administration and Finance) Mohammad Mozammel Haque, Director (Training, Planning, and Development) Lt. Col. MA Azad Anwar, along with deputy directors and various officers and employees.



International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD) is observed on May 4 globally to remember firefighters who lost their lives during service and to commemorate those killed in the September 11 attacks.
