Dhaka: Sheikh Ruhul Amin, a social worker and philanthropist, has been elected as the director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) following a direct voting process conducted on Saturday. His election has sparked joy across social, cultural, and professional circles within the Bagerhat district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sheikh Ruhul Amin, a former Dhaka University student and resident of Baradia village in Rampal upazila, is the eldest son of former teacher Alhaj Mohammad Ali and cousin to State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Sheikh Faridul Islam. Beyond his business engagements, Amin has been active in various social and public welfare activities, contributing to the development of mosques, madrasas, and religious-social institutions throughout the country, including Rampal.
Leaders from numerous political, social, and professional organizations have extended their congratulations to Amin, acknowledging his new role in Bangladesh’s cricket arena. They expressed optimism that his experience, leadership, and organizational skills will significantly contribute to the development of cricket in Bangladesh and enhance its presence on the international stage. Notable figures who conveyed their best wishes include Rampal Upazila Development Forum convener former district judge Sheikh Jalal Uddin, former headmaster freedom fighter Sheikh Sultan Ahmed, and Rampal Government College principal A. Hannan, among others.
