Rajshahi: Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) celebrated "University Day" with joy, enthusiasm, and fanfare to mark its 22nd founding anniversary today. The day's program commenced with the hoisting of the national flag and the release of balloons, festoons, and pigeons, followed by the plantation of tree saplings on the campus.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, teachers, students, and staff participated in a colorful rally that paraded through the campus to commemorate the special day. A discussion was held at the Central auditorium, featuring Member of University Grants Commission Prof Muhammad Tanzimuddin Khan and RUET Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof SM Abdur Razzaque as chief guest and patron, respectively, with Students Welfare Director Prof Rabiul Islam Sarker presiding over the event.
VC Prof Abdur Razzaque called for cooperation from all quarters to ensure the university's peaceful and successful operation. He announced that eleven new ten-storey buildings are under construction on the campus with an investment of Taka 599.30 crore, aimed at providing improved facilities for teachers, researchers, students, and others.
The improved facilities are expected to significantly advance and support higher academic standards in both teaching and research, transforming RUET into a center of excellence. The development works are designed to provide sufficient infrastructure facilities and residential accommodations for both male and female students.
In addition to enhancing training and higher education and research facilities for teachers, the physical infrastructure improvements include enhanced library facilities for both students and teachers.
