Dhaka: Rajshahi University (RU) authorities have suspended three teachers and taken disciplinary actions against five students.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decisions were made during the 544th meeting of the RU syndicate, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Saleh Hassan Naqib, which took place on December 2. A press release from RU announced these developments last night.
The university has suspended Associate Professor Dr. Anik Krishna Karmaker from the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for three years. Additionally, Dr. Karmaker has been barred from participating in any examination-related duties for the next ten years. Furthermore, Professor Probhash Kumar Karmaker from the Department of Statistics and Associate Professor Muhammad Hedayet Ullah from the Department of Finance have been dismissed from service.
In terms of student disciplinary actions, the university has revoked the student status of two individuals, permanently expelled one student, and suspended two others for a year. These decisions are effective from the date of the syndicate meeting, as confirmed by the press release.
