Road in front of DMC to be named after Dr Milon: Nasim

The road in front of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) will be named after Shaheed Dr Milon, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim said.

"The naming will be inaugurated in few days," he told a discussion organized by Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) marking the 26th death anniversary of Shaheed Dr Milon near his grave at DMC.

Former Health Minister AFM Ruhal Haque, Dr Milon's mother Selina Akhtar, BMA Secretary General Iqbal Arslan, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan, Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad Secretary General Professor MA Aziz and Joint General Secretary Prof Uttam Kumar Barua addressed the discussion with BMA President Prof Mahmud Hasan in the chair.

Recalling the contribution of Dr Milon, the minister said he had laid down his life for establishing democracy in the country.

"We have to work hard to further strengthen democracy in the country to materialize the dream of Dr Milon," he added.

Milon's mother Selina Aktar said the killers of his son are yet to be brought to justice. She demanded immediate trial of the killer of Dr Milon.

Dr Shamsul Alam Khan Milon, then BMA joint secretary and DMC teacher, was killed during the movement against military ruler HM Ershad.
