Dhaka:BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has accused the leaders and activists of the Awami League's associate bodies, Jubo League and Chhatra League, of attempting to destabilise Bangladesh by infiltrating the ongoing garment workers' movement.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Rizvi alleged that conspiracies are underway to disrupt the country's stability while Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is taking initiatives to make Bangladesh self-reliant. He accused members of Jubo League and Chhatra League of being involved in acts of arson and attacks on police, claiming they were caught at the scenes of these incidents.

Rizvi was addressing the Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum's 35th founding anniversary event at the Dhaka Bar Association. He emphasized the need for the government to navigate through the conspiracies against it, citing the support of lawyers, the general public, and people from various walks of life as the government's strength.

He also referred to the recent protests by garment workers, suggesting they coincide with the Prime Minister's efforts to secure investment commitments from foreign countries, including initiatives discussed during Tarique Rahman's recent visit to Japan. Additionally, Rizvi highlighted the government's social protection efforts, such as allowances for religious leaders, as part of the Prime Minister's broader social security measures.

Rizvi further claimed that 11 activists from Jubo League and Chhatra League, including an organizing secretary from Jagannath University Chhatra League, were detained during the workers' movement. He suggested that a secret alliance exists between a defeated force and another political entity working against the government.

He concluded by asserting that supporters of nationalist politics would stand firm for Bangladesh's sovereignty and independence, inviting others to join their cause. Rizvi reiterated the BNP's commitment to establishing a prosperous and democratic Bangladesh under Tarique Rahman's leadership and criticized the Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer's remarks about an impending revolution, questioning the party's political integrity.
