Dhaka: The prices of different kinds of rice have declined by Taka 6 to 10 per kilogram in the district. This decrease is attributed to the recent harvesting of new Boro paddy, as reported by local rice traders.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the rice prices have been witnessing a gradual decline over the past week. This trend is expected to continue as new rice is anticipated to enter the market within the coming week. Rice traders have noted that the ongoing harvest has contributed to the price reduction.

Mill owners in the area have confirmed the commencement of the Boro paddy harvest and have begun purchasing the new crop. This activity has simultaneously influenced the reduction in rice prices, as they have started to decrease.

In various markets across the district, Basmati rice is currently priced at Taka 88 per kilogram, down from Taka 92 a week ago. Similarly, Miniket rice is now available at Taka 80 per kilogram, compared to the previous price of Taka 86.
