Retired Teacher Succumbs After Tragic Fall into Hazaribagh Lift Shaft

Hazaribagh: A retired schoolteacher tragically lost his life on Sunday morning after falling into an empty elevator shaft in the Sultanganj Tali Office area of Hazaribagh. The victim, Subhash Chandra Paul, aged 73, was a former educator at Dhanmondi Government Boys' High School.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Subhash Chandra Paul was found in a critical condition and was swiftly transported to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) emergency department. Despite the urgent medical attention, he was pronounced dead by attending doctors around 8:30 am.

The incident was reported by Subhash's son, Krishna Gopal Paul, who mentioned that the family resides in their own flat on the 7th floor of the under-construction building. Subhash had left for his routine morning walk when the accident occurred. Construction workers at the site discovered the accident and promptly rescued him, only to find him declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Md. Faruk, the DMCH Police Outpost In-Charge Inspector, noted that the body is currently kept in the hospital morgue. Meanwhile, the Hazaribagh police have initiated an investigation into the unfortunate incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the fall.
