Jahangirnagar: Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan emphasized the importance of focusing research on the nation’s environment and ecosystem to better serve societal welfare. He made these remarks during a workshop titled “Understanding Climate Change and Climate Finance: National and International Perspective,” which took place in the Senate Hall of the university.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the JU Students’ Counselling and Guidance Centre to increase awareness about the challenges posed by climate change. The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the minimal contribution of the country to global climate change, yet stressed the increased responsibility in mitigating its effects. He called on researchers to incorporate environmental ethics into their work and to prioritize local ecological conditions.
Dr A K M Nuruzzaman, General Manager of PKSF, delivered the keynote address at the workshop, which was presided over by Prof Md Jamal Uddin, Director of the Students’ Counselling and Guidance Centre. The workshop was attended by teachers and students from various departments.
