Research Essential for Teachers’ Professional Growth: KU VC

Khulna: Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim today emphasized the indispensable role of research in the career advancement of young university teachers. He articulated this stance during the inaugural session of a daylong workshop titled ‘Research for Academics: Early Career Perspective’, organized by the university’s Research and Innovation Centre (RIC) at the central research conference room.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Vice-Chancellor asserted that the current administration is committed to evolving Khulna University into a robust research-oriented establishment. In pursuit of this ambition, he stressed the necessity for researchers to sustain originality and showcase their prowess in the global academic arena. The university has already implemented various initiatives to foster noticeable progress in research endeavors.



Highlighting the criticality of research for burgeoning academics, Dr Karim encouraged new faculty members to cultivate a research-centric mindset from the onset of their careers. Additionally, he underscored the importance of ethical awareness in the utilization of artificial intelligence in research and academic contexts.



Treasurer Professor Dr Md Nurunnabi, speaking as a special guest, reiterated that research engagement from the early stages of a teaching career is vital, as it enhances both academic and professional competence. The event was presided over by RIC Director Professor Dr Kazi Mohammad Didarul Islam, with contributions from other notable academics including Professor Dr Md Ashraful Alam and Professor Dr Md Asaduzzaman.



Lecturers Ferdousi Zaman Oishi and Abdullah Al Noman contributed to the discussions, sharing insights from their respective fields of Sociology and Computer Science and Engineering. The workshop proceeded with four technical sessions addressing key areas such as research identity, ethics, skills, methodology, publication, collaboration, and funding opportunities.



The sessions, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Treasurer, and RIC Director, aimed to equip participants with essential research skills and strategies. The event witnessed active participation from deans, discipline heads, RIC directors, and lecturers from various faculties of the university, fostering a collaborative environment for academic growth and innovation.
