Natore: Ten egrets and a dove trapped by local bird hunters were rescued and released back into the open sky of Chalan Beel in Natore. Members of the Chalan Beel Biodiversity Conservation Committee rescued the birds from bird-hunting traps in three different areas of Singra upazila this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, environmental activists conducted a drive early this morning and rescued six egrets from traps set up in Bildahar and Kalinagar fields, as well as four doves from current net traps in Barihati Beel. Saiful Islam, General Secretary of the Chalan Beel Biodiversity Committee, stated that a bond has been taken from the two accused bird hunters to prevent them from hunting birds in the future.
Additionally, the traps and current nets used for bird-hunting were destroyed to prevent future incidents.
