7 Awami League Members Arrested for Role in Flash Processions

Dhaka: Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested seven leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated organization from different parts of the capital for their alleged involvement in financing and taking part in sudden processions in the last 24 hours.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals include Nizam Uddin, the president of South Surma Upazila Swechchhasebak League in Sylhet City, aged 37, and Fahim Ahmed Shah, the organizing secretary of Sylhet District Chhatra League, aged 36. Also arrested were Mobarak Hossain Palak, vice president of Dhaka north district Chhatra League, aged 32, and Md. Faruk Hossain Akon, a member of the central committee of Bangladesh Inter-District Truck Drivers Union, aged 50. The others apprehended include Wahedul Islam Khan Sajib, former joint secretary of Lalbagh Thana Chhatra League, aged 52, Md. Miraj Hossain, an active worker of Awami League and organizer of sudden processions, aged 26, and Md. Ershad Ali, the agricultural affairs secretary of Awami Swechchhasebak League, aged 45.



The arrests were made during separate raids conducted in the areas of Nikunja, Shilpakala Academy North Nandipara, Kamrangirchar, and Badda within the last 24 hours, as stated in a police press release.
