Rajshahi: A conference of student representatives from the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU), hall student unions, and the Senate was held today at the Senate Building of Rajshahi University.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the conference began at 9:30 am and was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor and President of RUCSU, Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib. The event was organized by the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU) and featured speeches from several key figures, including Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammad Main Uddin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Md. Farid Uddin Khan, Treasurer Professor Md. Matiar Rahman, and former Chief Election Commissioner of RUCSU Professor A.F.M. Nazrul Islam.
Election Commissioner Professor Nurul Momen, RUCSU Treasurer Professor Md. Setaur Rahman, Returning Officer of the RUCSU election Professor A.B.M. Hamidul Haque, hall provosts, RUCSU General Secretary Salauddin Ammar, and Joint General Secretary Salman Sabbir were also present at the conference. Student representatives from Raksu, hall student unions, and the Senate shared their opinions and suggestions regarding the conduct of activities.
In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the challenges faced in holding the RUCSU election after a hiatus of 35 years. He highlighted the cooperation that facilitated the smooth completion of the election. He noted that candidates had previously made promises without fully understanding Raksu’s scope of work and financial resources, but efforts are underway to implement those promises in alignment with financial capacity and practical realities.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed hope that university students would consider these realities and mentioned that RUCSU’s success through collective cooperation could set a lasting example.
