Dhaka: Inflow of remittances witnessed a year-on-year growth of 24.3 percent reaching $2,031 million in the first 21 days of September, according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued today. This significant increase highlights the crucial role of remittances in the country’s economy.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, last year, during the same period, the country’s remittance inflow was $1,634 million. This marks a noticeable improvement in the financial contributions made by expatriates to Bangladesh through remittances, which are a vital source of foreign exchange for the nation.
During the July to September 21, 2025, of the current fiscal year, expatriates sent remittances amounting to $6,930 million. This was a considerable increase from $5,772 million during the same period of the previous fiscal year. The steady growth in remittance inflow reflects the increasing economic engagement of Bangladeshi expatriates, which is instrumental in supporting the nation’s economic stability and development initiatives.
