Dhaka: Inflow of remittances witnessed a year-on-year growth of 21.2 percent, reaching US$1008 million in the first eight days of December, according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued today. This significant increase highlights the continuing importance of remittances as a key component of the nation’s economy.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the same period last year, the country’s remittance inflow was recorded at $831 million. The data indicates a substantial rise in the amount expatriates are sending back home, providing a boost to the country’s financial stability.
Furthermore, during the period from July to December 8, 2025, of the current fiscal year, expatriates sent remittances totaling $14,046 million. This figure stands in contrast to $11,969 million sent during the same timeframe in the previous fiscal year, showcasing a consistent upward trend in remittance inflows. This growth underscores the vital role that overseas workers play in supporting the economy of Bangladesh.
