REHAB signs deal with govt to groom 10,000 skilled workers

The Real Estate and Housing Association of

Bangladesh (REHAB) has signed an agreement with the Skills for Industry and

Competitiveness and Innovation Programme under the Ministry of Finance to

groom some 10,000 higher skilled workers afresh in the real estate sector.

REHAB President Md Wahiduzzaman and Executive Project Director (additional

secretary) of Skills for Industry and Competitiveness and Innovation

Programme Mohammad Walid Hossain signed the agreement on behalf of their

respective sides at the Probashi Kallyan Bhaban in the capital today.

REHAB senior vice-president Liakat Ali Bhuiyan, vice-president Engineer Abdul

Latif, vice-president (finance) Abdur Razzak and SIP-REHAB Project Chief

Coordinator Kazi Abul Kashem were present, among others, on the occasion,

said a press release.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Walid Hossain said REHAB had earlier

imparted training to some 21,000 trainees with efficiency while the standard

of their training was satisfactory. “The participation of f
emale trainees was

very much encouraging. Hopefully, REHAB will play a significant role in

imparting higher training in the real estate sector in future,” he added.

Md Wahiduzzaman said the association has so far imparted standard higher

training to some 21,000 workers in the real estate sector while around 90

percent of them are being employed in various real estate and developer

companies of the country and abroad and thus playing an important role to the

country’s economy.

According to the release, the training will be imparted to the trainees free

of cost while each trainee will be given stipend. The higher training will be

given mainly in four areas namely electrical installation and maintenance,

plumbing and pipe fittings, machinery and steel binding, tiles and marble

works.

The period of the training will be four months while the trainees would have

scope for getting jobs abroad.
