Dhaka: Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain, also known as Kaikobad, has announced that landmark reform initiatives are being undertaken through the Ministry of Religious Affairs to further establish religious harmony and equality in the country.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister emphasized these efforts during a discussion and prize-giving ceremony at Jagannath University (JnU). The event, held at the university's central auditorium, was organized to mark the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi. Minister Kaikobad highlighted the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in driving these initiatives and the implementation of significant reform programs through the ministry.
One of the key initiatives mentioned by the minister includes the introduction of monthly honorariums and welfare allowances for religious leaders, funded by the state. He also reflected on the life of the Great Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SA), describing him as a blessing for the universe and an exemplary figure for humanity. The minister encouraged following the Prophet's way of life for achieving success in this world and the hereafter.
The programme saw JnU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Rais Uddin as the chief discussant, with Director General of the Islamic Foundation Mufti Muhammad Muhibbullahil Baqi and JnU Treasurer Professor Dr. Sabina Sharmeen participating as special guests.
As part of the Eid-e-Miladunnabi celebrations, JnU organized competitions in Qirat, Hamd, Naat-e-Rasul, and essay writing. Prizes were awarded to the winners, with the first-place essay winner receiving Tk 50,000, and a total of Tk 150,000 distributed among 11 other winners. The event was attended by JnU officials, teachers, employees, student leaders, and invited guests.
