Dhaka: Health officials today said they recorded 790 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least two persons in the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the latest figures indicate that 18 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 196 in Chattogram division, and 249 in Dhaka division. Additionally, 61 cases were reported in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 62 in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas. Other affected areas include Khulna division with 60 cases, Mymensingh division with 73 cases, Rajshahi division with 33 cases, and Rangpur division with 38 cases, as per a statement from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh has witnessed 141 deaths, with the disease affecting 49,220 people this year. The previous year saw the disease claim 413 lives and infect 102,861 people in the country, while projections for 2024 indicate 575 deaths and 101,214 infections.
