Rajshahi: Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has adopted massive initiatives to cover the city with greenery, aiming to make it more environment-friendly and habitable. “We have transplanted numerous trees to protect biodiversity along with maintaining ecological balance,” stated Dr. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir, administrator of RCC and Commissioner of Rajshahi division.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the city corporation has already planted various types of trees, including flowers, fruit, and medicinal plants, at tourist spots, amusement parks, and walkways. This initiative has helped transform the city into an eye-catching and colorful place, bringing joy to the public and onlookers. Administrator Dr. Humayun Kabir mentioned that around 29,000 trees were transplanted between June and November this year.
The beautification process was further enhanced by colorful street lights, as RCC installed a significant number of lights on island streets and road crossings to meet civic demands. RCC Chief

Additionally, 7,520 saplings of fruit and herbal trees were distributed among citizens for plantation through 40 ward councillors to encourage social forestry activities. Moreover, butterfly-shaped street lights were installed on the newly elevated four-lane road from Bilsimla railway crossing to Kasiadanga crossing and another road from Biman crossing to Bihash crossing.
Other roads, such as the one from Court to Fire Service crossing via C and B crossing and another from Alupatty crossing to Bhadra crossing via Talaimary crossing, were illuminated with modern and decorative lights.
