Rajshahi: Abdullah Al Mamun hit 65 as Rangpur Division reached 218-5 against Barishal on Day 2 of the fifth round game of National Cricket League (NCL) today at Rajshahi Stadium.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Barishal, resuming the day at 266-7, were able to add 70 runs before being all out for 336. Rangpur are now trailing by 118 runs but with five wickets in hand, they still have the chance to topple Barishal’s total.

Barishal’s innings was highlighted by skipper Tanvir Islam, who scored 52 runs, becoming the fourth batter of the side to bring up a half-century in the first innings. On Day 1, Iftekhar Hossain Ifti scored 70, Salman Emon 67, and Tasamul Haque 51, contributing significantly to Barishal’s total.

For Rangpur, Abdullah Al Mamun and Ariful Haque each took two wickets, restricting Barishal’s score. Mamun then struck 65 to help the side make a solid start in their innings, while Naeem Islam added 40 runs to the tally.
