Rajshahi: Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) will receive four ventilators on Monday, Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hussain said on Sunday. The minister made the announcement while speaking to journalists at the inauguration of the 17th Asia Pharma Expo at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the government received a donation of five ventilators following the deaths of several children amid a shortage of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facilities at RMCH. The health minister emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting, “We are collecting the ventilators today. Tomorrow (Monday) morning, our secretary will go to Rajshahi and hand over four of them.”

The minister also highlighted that necessary preparations are being undertaken to ensure proper treatment for measles patients. He mentioned that local pharmaceutical manufacturers are expected to provide more than a dozen additional ventilators to the government in the coming days. “These ventilators will strengthen our capacity to treat patients, including those affected by measles,” he added.
