Bangladesh Independence Day Commemorated in Beijing

Beijing: The Embassy of Bangladesh in Beijing observed the nation’s Independence Day and National Day with due solemnity on March 26. The programme commenced with the raising of the national flag by Bangladesh’s Ambassador to China, Md Nazmul Islam, in the presence of embassy officials and staff, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran and readings of messages from the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. The ceremony concluded with a prayer for the souls of war heroes and for the country’s continued prosperity.



According to United News of Bangladesh, a grand diplomatic reception was held in the evening at a local hotel, attended by Chinese government officials, diplomats, business leaders, university professors, social and cultural leaders, and the Bangladeshi community in China. In his remarks, Ambassador Md Nazmul Islam paid tribute to Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the martyrs and freedom fighters of the Liberation War, and urged all to work together for a prosperous nation. He highlighted the current government’s efforts under the ‘Bangladesh First’ vision, Bangladesh’s UN peacekeeping contributions, and the Foreign Minister’s candidacy for the UN General Assembly presidency.



The event also featured cultural performances by Bangladeshi students, including patriotic songs, folk music, and traditional dances, and a video presentation showcasing Bangladesh’s tourism, culture, and economic potential. The celebration underscored the strong diplomatic, cultural, and economic ties between Bangladesh and China.
