Raising unequivocal voice to prevent corruption stressed

RANGPUR Government officials and anti-corruption

activists today stressed on raising unequivocal and collective voice against

corruption in the spirit of the War of Liberation to build a corruption-free

society.

They expressed the view at a post-rally discussion held at Town Hall

auditorium here in observance of the International Anti Corruption Day-2019.

The district administration jointly with District Combined Office of

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), District Corruption Prevention Committee

(CPC), Sochetan Nagorik Samaj and TIB organised programmes marking the day.

The programmes, including taking oath against corruption by officials,

citizens and schools students, rally, different competitions and mass

signature campaign against corruption, prize distribution and cultural

functions.

Government officials, teachers, students, members of District CPC and

school level Integrity Units and its Advisory Council Members and civil

society members attended the programmes.

Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-General) Syed Enamul Kabir

with other officials and anti-corruption activists formally inaugurated

observance of the day by releasing balloons.

With President of District CPC Shushanto Kumar Khan in the chair, ADC

Syed Enamul Kabir addressed the discussion as the chief guest.

Deputy Director of District Combined Office Sheikh Mesbah Uddin

delivered the welcome speech.

Moderated by General Secretary of District CPC Akbar Hossain, Divisional

Director of ACC Abdul Karim, President of district Awami League Mamtaz Uddin

Ahmed, Senior District Information Officer Humayun Kobir, among others,

addressed the discussion.

The chief guest called for mobilising all social forces against

corruption and educating young students on the values of honesty for building

a corruption free society.

The extent of corruption has started reducing as a result of the

growing anti-corruption sentiment among common people in the process of

building a corruption free society and a developed Bangladesh, he added.

Welcoming the 'purification drive' against corruption, other speakers

stressed on active participation of common people to prevent corruption

through stopping misuse of power and public money by a fewer section of

government service-holders and others.
