Rabindranath Tagore’s Enduring Legacy Celebrated at Rangpur Event

Rangpur: Socio-cultural and literary figures have emphasized Bishwa Kobi Rabindranath Tagore’s significant contribution to the Bengali language, literature, and culture as memorable. This sentiment was shared during a special function organized by the Rangpur Sahitya-Sanskriti Parishad (RSSP) at its office, commemorating the 84th death anniversary of the poet Rabindranath Tagore on Tuesday night.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the RSSP organized various programs to mark the occasion, including discussions on Tagore’s life, philosophy, literary works, social welfare, and cultural activities. The event featured renditions of his songs, poetry recitations, and a cultural evening. The observance began with the song “Anandaloke Mangalaloke Birajo Satya Sundaro” by Rabindranath.



Dr. Nasima Akter, President of the RSSP, presided over the function and presented an article titled “You are not in front of the eyes…you have taken the place in the middle of the eyes.” Chowdhury Mahmudunnabi Dollar, President of the Rangpur Cultural Unity Parishad, delivered the welcome speech.



Eminent figures such as writer and educationist Professor Mohammad Shah Alam, writer and cultural personality Dr. Mofizul Islam Maantu, and poet and writer Abdur Razzaque discussed Tagore’s life, human philosophy, literary works, social welfare, and cultural contributions. Poets and literary figures Niresh Mukherjee, Kajal Chandra Roy, and Abdul Quddus participated in the recitation of Rabindranath’s poems.



Prominent musicians, including Tripti Dutta, Swapan Kumar Pal, and others, performed Rabindra Sangeet. The RSSP artists, along with Dr. Ajibar Rahman, a flute instructor from the music department of Jamil Memorial Library, and his students, performed Rabindra Sangeet collectively. The entire program was moderated by RSSP General Secretary Mamun Ur Rashid from 7:40 pm to 11 pm.
