Gaibandha: A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 has seized a 37-kg touchstone idol, specifically a Mother-Child Sculpture, valued at approximately Taka 1.50 crore. Three individuals, suspected to be smugglers, were apprehended in connection with the discovery at Katabari village in the Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals were identified as Mizanur Rahman alias Shuja, 35, son of the late Khalilur Rahman, Golam Firoz Liton, 30, son of AH Quddus, both residents of Katabari village in Gobindaganj upazila, and Shibu Sarkar, 30, son of Anil Chandra Sarkar from Laksmanpur Baraisalpara village in Saidpur upazila of Nilphamari district.
Acting on a tip-off, an operational team from the Crime Prevention Company-1 of RAB-13's Dinajpur camp conducted a raid at a house in the village. The operation resulted in the seizure of the touchstone idol and the arrest of the three individuals at 7:10 pm on Wednesday, as confirmed by a press release issued today.
The arrested individuals, along with the seized touchstone, have been handed over to the Gobindaganj Police Station, as stated in the release.
