Sylhet: Bangladesh T20 captain Liton Das insisted that they are quite ready to face any kind of challenge in the upcoming Asia Cup after getting a quality preparation. He hailed the camp in Sylhet as "I have never seen such a good camp" and was elated to get match time ahead of the Asia Cup by playing a T20 series against the Netherlands.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Liton expressed confidence in the team's readiness for the Asia Cup. He described the Sylhet camp as a valuable experience, emphasizing its significance for their preparation. "The camp that we did was not just for the Netherlands series, but also to make sure that we get a good preparation for the Asia Cup," Liton told reporters in Sylhet after the third and final T20 against the Netherlands was called off due to heavy rain.
Liton explained why Sylhet was crucial for their Asia Cup preparation. He mentioned that while fitness could be maintained in Mirpur, the specific practice they aimed for was only feasible in Sylhet. "So I feel, overall, this journey was really good for us. It gave us ample opportunity to take a quality preparation and boost us psychologically," he added.
Bangladesh emerged victorious in the three-match T20 series against the Netherlands, winning 2-0 after clinching the first match by eight wickets and the second by nine wickets. The third T20 was washed out due to rain after Bangladesh reached 164-4 in 18.2 overs. Liton described the series as near perfect despite the limited challenges faced by the hosts. He acknowledged that while more batters could have benefitted from time at the crease, the convincing wins in the first two games were a positive sign for the upcoming big event.
Liton also noted the importance of playing matches to enhance performance and game sense. "Only Saifuddin didn't get a chance, but everyone else got the opportunity to play at least one match," he observed. "I think practice is important, but even more important is how much you can deliver in matches. Playing matches will improve you, increase your game sense."
