Dhaka: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has taken extensive security measures across the country to ensure peaceful and uninterrupted celebrations of Janmashtami, the Hindu religious festival marking the birth of Lord Krishna, scheduled to be observed tomorrow.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, RAB has deployed adequate personnel at temples, puja mandaps, event venues, and other key locations nationwide. Regular patrols have been intensified, and intelligence surveillance in plainclothes has been strengthened to prevent any untoward incidents. The elite force stated that each battalion has reviewed potential security threats and prepared area-specific security plans for the festival.
Intelligence activities have been intensified to collect advance information and identify any potential threats. RAB is maintaining close surveillance on the activities and movements of extremist groups, banned organisations, and other elements that may attempt to disrupt the celebrations. Special security arrangements have been made for important persons, religious leaders, priests, and foreign nationals attending Janmashtami programmes.
Security measures have also been strengthened around Janmashtami processions. Adequate RAB personnel will be deployed at the front, rear, and both sides of processions, while reserve forces will remain ready to respond to emergencies. RAB's cyber monitoring activities have been intensified to identify and prevent the spread of rumours, misinformation, provocative posts, comments, images, and other online content that could undermine communal harmony.
The force stated it is working in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, the administration, and intelligence agencies to ensure a safe environment for the celebrations. RAB has urged people to celebrate Janmashtami peacefully and safely and requested the public to immediately inform the nearest law enforcement agency about any suspicious person, object, or activity. The force expressed hope that public awareness and cooperation would help ensure the smooth and peaceful completion of all Janmashtami programmes across the country.
