Dhaka: Director General (DG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) AKM Shahidur Rahman has issued a stern warning regarding any potential threats against Puja Mandaps during the five-day Durga Puja celebration. He emphasized that immediate legal action will be taken against those responsible for any attacks on the Hindu community or incidents of vandalism, theft, or robbery related to the Puja.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the RAB chief made these remarks after a visit to the Dhakeshwari National Temple in Old Dhaka. He highlighted the efforts of the RAB Cyber Monitoring Team, which is maintaining continuous online surveillance to prevent the dissemination of rumors and provocative information during the festival.
Rahman urged the public to promptly report any information about sabotage related to the Puja to RAB personnel. He assured that the RAB Headquarters is actively monitoring activities around the clock to maintain communal harmony during the celebrations.
Describing Bangladesh as a country of communal harmony, Rahman stated that special security measures have been put in place to ensure a peaceful celebration of Sharadiya Durga Puja. He noted that there are 33,355 Puja Mandaps set up across the country, with sufficient RAB personnel deployed to handle any potential disturbances.
The RAB chief also mentioned that intelligence surveillance and patrols have been increased across the country since September 24 to ensure overall security. Additional security measures will be implemented on the day of idol immersion to prevent any incidents.
Rahman expressed that, as in previous years, Durga Puja will be celebrated with enthusiasm and religious fervor throughout the country, and he assured that RAB will work in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies to ensure safety and security.
