Khulna: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has successfully apprehended Md Ejajul Hossain in connection with the double murder that occurred in front of the Khulna Metropolitan Court premises. The arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the killings.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Lieutenant Colonel Md Nistar Ahmed, Commanding Officer of RAB-6, revealed the arrest details during a press conference. He stated that the victims, Fazle Rabbi Rajan, aged 30, and Hasib Hawladar, aged 40, were shot and hacked to death at the court's main gate on November 30. In the aftermath, RAB-6 collected crucial evidence, including CCTV footage and mobile video recordings, which played a pivotal role in identifying the suspect.
Ejajul Hossain was identified in the video footage and was detained on December 17 around 5:30 pm in the Aichgati area of Rupsha. Upon arrest, he confessed to his involvement and disclosed the names of seven others implicated in the crime.
Fazlur Rahman, Media Officer of RAB-6, explained that the murders were a result of a long-standing rivalry between two drug trafficking groups battling for control over illegal business operations. He added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the incident.
