Dhaka: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 has successfully apprehended a man and confiscated 1,270 Yaba tablets along with a passenger bus in the Palashbari municipality area under the jurisdiction of the Palashbari police station in Gaibandha district today. The operation was conducted by RAB-13 following a tip-off, leading to the arrest of Md Zahidul Islam alias Zahid, 50, who hails from the village of Dariapur Mirer Bagan under the Sadar police station of Gaibandha district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the RAB-13 team from Gaibandha Camp intercepted a Gaibandha-bound passenger bus originating from Chittagong on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway at Palashbari municipality. The team seized the illegal drugs and the bus at 9:15 am, subsequently arresting Zahid, who is believed to be a professional drug dealer.
Initial investigations have revealed that Zahid has been actively involved in the supply, purchase, and distribution of drugs across various districts, including Rangpur, for an extended period. Following the operation, a case was filed, and the elite force handed over the seized Yaba tablets and the detained individual to the Palashbari police station for further legal proceedings.
