Dhaka: Prime Minister’s Political Adviser and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced on Saturday that the decision regarding the country’s next President will be made by the top leadership of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Rizvi’s statement came during a visit to Zia Udyan in the capital, where he and newly appointed chairmen of 12 state-owned institutions paid their respects at the graves of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Rizvi addressed questions about the upcoming presidential appointment, emphasizing that the decision rests with the party’s high command. He also touched upon the demands from various political factions for the trial of the recently resigned President, describing it as an issue pertaining to party policy.

Rizvi expressed optimism that the newly appointed chairmen of state-owned institutions will fulfill their duties with integrity and dedication. He further mentioned that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is in the process of evaluating and rewarding party members who have shown dedication and made sacrifices at different levels within the party.

During this time, Shahabuddin, the sitting President, administered the oath of office to three heads of government, marking a rare occurrence in the nation’s history.
