Quader describes BNP’s vision-2030 as farce

DHAKA- Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today described the "Vision 2030" declared by BNP is nothing but a farce and deception with the people.

He termed the vision 2030 as "inflated balloon" which will get shrink in the days to come.

Quader stated this at a press conference at the party president's political office at Dhanmondi here just after BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's declaration of Vision 2030.

The Awami League general secretary also termed the vision 2030 as meritless, hollow and dement of a political party isolated from the people.

"Actually, the vision of BNP is to establish "Hawa Bhaban" as an alternative 'power house' to make corruption and embezzlement of orphanage money," he said.

Quader said the history of BNP is the history of negative politics as it initiated killings in politics, coups and conspiracy in the country.

BNP, he said, has lost its strength of waging movement underfoot of terrorists and militants.

The minister said there is no newness in the "Vision 2030" of BNP as most of work plans reflects in the Vision 2021 declared by Awami League long ago.

Quader said Khaleda Zia ignored the issue of war criminals like always. "Khaleda Zia stays in favor of ant-liberation forces and she will remain so," he added.

The Awami League general secretary said BNP will continue their politics in association with fanatic communal forces. "Their vision is to save war criminals, establish terrorism and to sell the country," he said.

Quader said history reveals that visionary Awami League makes the countrymen to dream of.

Under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Father of the Nation, Awami League made the nation to dream of an independent and sovereign country and materialized it as Bangladesh had achieved independence, he added.

The Awami League general secretary said after the assassination of Bangabandhu in 1975, AL has been materializing the dream of establishing people's rights under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina.

The minister said before the general election of 2008, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina declared the vision 2021 before the nation to turn Bangladesh into a middle income country.

No other political party, he said, could present any roadmap for overall development of Bangladesh before the Awami League's declaration of Vision 2021, he said.

"In 2008 the countrymen gave absolute mandate and voted Awami League to power keeping trust in Vision 2021 declared by Sheikh Hasina," the AL general secretary said.

Quader said in the last nine years, the people of Bangladesh has witnessed which vision should follow for overall development of a country.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is not only making the people dreams of but also materializing Vision 2021 in true sense and that is why the country has been witnessing unprecedented developments," he said, adding that Bangladesh has already achieved the status of lower middle income one.

He also hoped that the country will soon turn into a middle income one maintaining the present trend of development.

"Awami League has made the nation dreaming of a Digital Bangladesh. Today, the country becomes a Digital Bangladesh and it will become a developed country by 2041," he said.

Quader said the United Nations (UN), World Bank and International Monetary Fund and other international organizations, institutions and media recognized the development of Bangladesh.

"The economic status of Bangladesh now very strong," he said.

The Awami League general secretary said if BNP founder Ziaur Rahman had not grabbed the state power as a beneficiary, Bangladesh would have emerged as a developed and prosperous state before the world and Begum Khaleda Zia should not have to declare such vision stealing the idea of Awami League.

Today's remarks of the BNP chairperson have revealed the foolishness of BNP nakedly, he said.

The minister said Khaleda Zia presented many things which have already been implemented and being implemented under the incumbent government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Listening of talks like honesty, culture of impunity, human rights and establishing of humanitarian values are very disgraceful for the nation, he added.

He said BNP's leader Ziaur Rahman had established the example of impunity by imposing Indemnity Act after the assassination of Bangabandhu.

Quader said Ziaur Rahman had changed the character of the country's constitution violating the spirit and values achieved through bloodbath of 30 lakh martyrs in the Liberation War.

In the same way, BNP today wants to carry out examination on two-house parliament system by bringing changes in the basic structure of constriction, he added.

Awami League organizing secretaries AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan, AKM Enamul Haque Shamim and Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Liberation War Affairs Secretary Mrinal Kanti Das, Information and Research Affairs Secretary Advocate Afjal Hossain, Education Affairs Secretary Shamsunnahar Chanpa and Forests and Environment Affairs Secretary Delwar Hossain, among others, were present on the occasion.
