Dhaka: The public works ministry (MOHPW) today issued a public alert against fraudulence over recruitment notices and fake work orders using its name.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ministry released a statement highlighting a recent incident involving a fraudulent recruitment notice. The notice falsely claimed that the outsourcing company Khandaker Traders was awarded a work order for ‘package 13’ to recruit 161 personnel for various positions, including security guards, liftmen, computer typists, and office assistants.
The ministry’s statement emphasized that it has no connection with this fraudulent recruitment notice or the alleged work order. It clarified that no appointment letter has been issued by the ministry related to this matter. The fake work order was published using a ministry reference number, 25,00,000,056,35,003,22-054, dated 7 September 2025, indicating malicious intent.
Further details revealed that the fraudulent circular stated that Khandaker Traders would recruit manpower immediately and pay the recruits’ salaries through its account at Standard Bank PLC, Topkhana Road Branch, with account number 00533012661. The notices falsely bore the name of the ministry’s deputy secretary, Abul Baker Md Touhid, who is actually serving as a joint secretary.
The ministry urged the public to remain vigilant and cautious against such fraudulent activities.
