Dhaka: Additional Inspector General of River Police Kusum Dewan has directed his team to ensure robust security measures at puja mandaps and idol immersion sites during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations. Dewan emphasized the need for heightened vigilance to prevent any untoward incidents at these locations under the jurisdiction of the River Police.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dewan issued these instructions while leading a monthly crime review and welfare meeting at the River Police Headquarters in Dhaka. He urged officers to remain alert to prevent miscreants from exploiting the river routes for disruptive activities and called for enhanced operations to recover illegal nets, thereby maintaining free movement along the waterways.
The River Police chief expressed gratitude for the unit’s ongoing efforts to keep the river routes clear for transportation. The meeting began with a review of the progress on key cases under investigation by the River Police, with participation from all levels of the police force, including DIG, Additional DIGs, Police Superintendents, and Police Superintendents from 11 regions, who joined both in person and virtually.
